Andrew T MACKAY – composer
Multi award-winner, Andrew ventured into new territory for him when he was invited by The Crucible Theatre, Sheffield, to write the music for the highly acclaimed, super imaginative extravaganza Life of Pi, based on the book and Oscar-winning film of the same name.
He is a classically trained composer, producer, arranger and conductor dividing his time between London and Mumbai. His company, Bohemia Junction, represents Abbey Road Studios for India as well as the FAMES Project, which is the new ‘go to’ home for orchestral film recording for Hollywood, Europe and Bollywood.
Credits over the last few years include the 9-episode series, Bose: Dead/Alive and several films including The Music Teacher, Ateet, Bombairiya and Hamid
He is the co-founder, alongside Garry Hughes, of the popular electronica/world music act Bombay Dub Orchestra. One of his music scores was for the feature doc ‘Monsoon’ which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival 2014 and won the Peoples Choice Award for the best Canadian Film of 2014. In 2015 he scored Katherine Leiken’s feature documentary ‘In Rajasthan’.
His debut feature score for the film Little Box Of Sweets by writer/director Meneka Das won the Grand Jury Award for Best Music at The South Asian International Film Festival of New York in 2008.
His work in Bollywood includes orchestrations and orchestral recording for the Yash Raj Film Dhoom 3, Lingaa and I for AR Rahman. He has also worked on films such as Tashan and Wake Up Sid.
