Carolynne Wyper, MD of SMA Talent
Lemon_Cello is an album of original music featuring the cello with proceeds from sales going to The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. There are pieces of music by Mike Moran/Freddie Mercury; Alexander Balanescu; Craig Pruess, ‘Borgen’ composer Halfdan E, as well as many rising film composers. The tracks range from simple piano and cello sketches to full orchestral pieces.
The idea was conceived by composer agent, Carolynne Wyper, in a bid to raise money for The Royal Marsden Hospital, who saved renowned cellist, Caroline Brown’s life. 50,000 people are cared for at The Marsden each year, where their research provides the very best in diagnosis, treatment and care.
Caroline is married to Carolynne’s cousin and it is Caroline’s bravery and resolution that led to the album. “I am so full of admiration for Caroline and her battle with this dreadful disease that I felt I had to do something”, says Carolynne. “Forget running marathons, so I thought, hang on, I represent composers, Caroline’s a cellist, and the obvious thing to do was to create an album. I put the call out to all my clients at SMA Talent and SMARisingTalent and was blown away by the immediate response. It was all put together really quickly.”
The next step was to find the right image to reflect the project and without any persuasion artist Malka Favre agreed to allowing her La Joueuse becoming the cover.
The next hurdle was to find a way of selling the album and thanks to the generosity of composer, Halfdan E, he agreed to launch the album on his Plant Sounds label..
Everybody involved this album have donated their work free of charge in the hope that you will support it and the life-saving research of The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
Very special thanks goes to all our composers who have given their time and resources so willingly, Halfdan E for running with this project without any hesitation and to Tom Bradley (he knows why).
